So I guess what I really need is a way to re-write HTML on the fly to remove alt text references from links that point to a denied site. The filters in place now actually work remarkably well with the exception of the alternate text.In viewing the HTML source, I can see the alternate text listed there. I could 'solve' the problem by blocking the sites outright, but that's too draconian and it blocks legitimate content in many instances.
The alternate text can be pretty racy, though, and there have been objections to this. the squid server is a transparent proxy), so the users are generally unaware that content is being filtered at all (except when they try to go where they shouldn't and the images fail to load).
